ESSA currently has a membership of 80.  ESSA was formally established in 1985.  The comprehensive history of the Society is available here.  Members of the organization come from a number of different disciplines and areas of ergonomics.  Membership is encouraged from:  academics and all those involved in sectors of industry, agriculture, commerce, occupational health and indeed all working environments.

All members are encouraged to be active participants;  please send your achievements and activities within your personal areas.  If you have any problems or queries send them through to and let's see where we can help.  As ESSA is a non-profit organisation, the membership fees are only R125 (full membership) and R50 for student membership.

All members will receive quarterly newsletters plus the ergonomics SA journal.  For both of these we need input from YOU. We will also keep you informed of international activities and forthcoming events/conferences.

Would you like more information about ergonomics or the Society in general? Feel free to contact any member of the Committee with your queries.  Follow this link to contact us!
